Guilders (depicted with the letter ‘f’) were the Dutch currency until the Euro was introduced. The official conversion was €1 = f2.20, but now the two currencies seem to be worth about the same…
The ‘public libraries’ I’m talking about are see-through cabinets that can be found everywhere in Frankfurt. People leave their unwanted books behind and take home whatever they’re interested in. It’s a really cool system! (The German guy says “Cool, I haven’t read that one yet!”)
